When I began my Raspberry Pi project, I quickly found that there was no free ESPN API that gave access to live scores. I decided this was unacceptable and wrote my own. During my ‘research’, I discovered ESPN Bottomline. This looks like a desktop application which will provide you with up to date scores and news. I found out that this application frequently visits plain URL’s which have the data I needed sitting there in plain text. I whipped up a Python API that visits these URL’s and presents the caller with a nice dictionary. You can download the source code below. The documentation is commented at the top of the source file. Currently this has only been tested with python 2.7 and 3.2 (should work for all 2.* and 3.*)
